How to clean up a broken fluorescent bulb that broke on carpet!?

My boyfriend broke a long Fluorescent light bulb in the living room. Its in like a bazillion tiny pieces all over the carpet. My vace wont pick it all up! how can i clean this?? its like my carpet is sparkling theres so much. and i have to obvisouly wear shoes constantly. help!!!
