Hosting a World Cup?

Good question, and so far you have received pretty much what the general correct opinion would be on the matter. It very much depends on stadium sizes and security facilities, political and economic stability, etc. The one thing is that some of the decision is biased as Fifa is not an altogether upstanding organisation. The one thing that will also tip the balance is whether the country can provide for a situation which will profit from having a world cup finals. The question would be, what can Guatemala offer on top of just the stadiums? It would need restaurants, hotels, bars (lots of them), clubs, screening facilities for fans who can't get tickets, basic things like good taxis and buses and trains and most importantly hospitality facitlities to house the rich who spend thousands on booking out significant sections of hotels, dining on expensive food and drink and buying boxes to watch the games. Now I don't now Guatemala but I know Belize and they just don't have the infrastructure. Guatemala by all accounts is even less developed than Belize. That would go for a significant majority of countries in the world who just cannot physically host a finals. South Africa, though a developed country was a difficult choice for Fifa as it still cannot provide for like Japan, USA and most of Europe.
